Coningsby: Gen. 5-8

 Fifth Generation
  
5.  Thomas Coningsby1 (William-4, Roger-3, John-2, John-1) was born circa 1300 in Morton Bagot, Warwickshire, England.1 Thomas Coningsby was servant to Edward of Woodstock, eldest son of King Edward III and father of King Richard II, who became known as the Black Prince. Thomas fought at the Battles of Poitiers and Najera [Nazers] in Spain. Coningsby was taken prisoner in Brittany and kept in the castle of Longue. His ransom was to marry Theophania, daughter of Sir John Allmayne, knight and Lord of the castle.

Richard Archard, upon learning of Thomas' capture, entered the Manor of Morton Baggot until Thomas' return. Following the death of Thomas, Archard alleged that Coningsby's son, John was a bastard. John was forced to go to Brittany to get proof of his parents' marriage.

8.  Thomas Coningsby1 (Thomas-7, John-6, Thomas-5, William-4, Roger-3, John-2, John-1) was born in 1395 in Neen Sollars, Shropshire, England.1 He died in 1498 at the age of 103 in Neen Sollars, Shropshire, England.1 In 1460, Thomas Coningsby had to prove in court that he was descended from Sir Roger Coningsby and Joan Bagot in order to recover Morton Bagot.
