Genealogy and the Theatre

I started acting in community theatre in Arcadia, FL back in 1980 or 81. I alternated lead and character roles for about 15 years before calling it quits. When I moved back to Indiana, I decided to give it another go. I've done ten plays since October 2009. We just started rehearsals for "Arsenic and Old Lace." The production centers on the Brewster family, sisters Abby and Martha and their three nephews, Mortimer [a theatre critic], Teddy [who thinks he's Theodore Roosevelt] and Jonathan [a homicidal maniac]. Abby and Martha poison lonely old men and Teddy buries them in the Panama Canal [cellar]. The Brewsters descend from Elder William Brewster of the Mayflower. For those of you who have seen the movie, you know the show is hilarious!

Genealogy tie in? Elder Brewster of course! I landed the role of Lt. Rooney, a Brooklyn police officer. I may also be the only cast member who is actually a Brewster! William is my 10th great-grandfather.

Here's the rundown:
