Pieter Prall and Maria Christopher\Christoffels were
married about 1693 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York.20 Maria Christopher\Christoffels, daughter of Hans Christopher\Christoffels and Tryntje
Barents Blom, was born about 1674 in probably Long Island, New York.23–24 She died after 17 Apr 1711 at
the age of 37 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York.13,16,20
She was also known as Maria Prall.20
Pieter Prall and Maria Christopher\Christoffels had the
following children:
2 i. Johannes Prall, born abt 1694, Staten
Island, Richmond Co., New York;
married Aaltje Bas, 17 Mar 1718, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; married Jane Larue, abt
1725, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey or Bucks Co., Pennsylvania; died
1777, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania.
ii. Mary Prall11,14
was born about 1696 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York.11 [named in father's will] Mary is not
listed in any of the compiled Prall sources. She is, however, named in her
father's will ahead of Catherine. The names Mary and Catherine Prall appear [in
that order] on the 1706/7 Staten Island census, as well. Based on those two
items, Mary has been included as the eldest daughter of Pieter and Maria
[Christopher] Prall.
3 iii. Aaron Prall, born abt 1698, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; married Unknown [Prall], abt 1721,
Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; married Marytjen Whittaker, 1 Jun
1728, Kingston, Ulster Co., New York; died bet 9 Mar 1757 and 18 Oct
1757, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.
4 iv. Pieter Prall II, born 29 Mar
1699/1700, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; married Sarah Grandin,
abt 1722, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; died 1 May 1761,
Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.
v. Catherine Prall1,3,11,14,25
was born about 1702 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York.11,20
[named in 1706 Staten Island Census] Catherine is given a birth year of 1708 in
the DuBois and Prall Genealogies. She is also listed on the Staten Island
Census of 1706/7, which would make a birth in 1708 impossible. The birth year
of 1702 assigned to her here is based on two factors: [1] There is a six year
gap between the births/baptisms of Peter and Abraham, and [2] She was named
before her sister in their father's will, indicating that Catherine was likely
the eldest daughter.
Further adding to the confusion over Catherine is the fact that the second time she is named in Peter's will, the name Mary precedes Catherine. This is not the case earlier entry of her name in the will.
Gene Baker gave Catherine a husband, Daniel Laine.

5 vi. Cornelius Prall, born abt 1704, Staten
Island, Richmond Co., New York;
married Esther Larue, abt 1730, probably Hunterdon Co., New Jersey; died bef 8 Oct 1733,
Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.
6 vii. Abraham Prall, born abt 1706, Staten
Island, Richmond Co., New York;
married Alida Hegeman, 9 May 1731, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; died 28 Sep 1775,
Chelsea, Northfield, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York.
7 viii. Antje \ Anne Prall, born 21 Oct 1707,
Dutch Church, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York;
married Daniel Larue, abt 1730, Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; died 23 Oct 1776, Bucks
Co., Pennsylvania.
8 ix. Isaac Prall, born abt 1710, Staten
Island, Richmond Co., New York;
married Mary Du Bois, 1731, probably Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York; died
27 Jan 1774, Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., New Jersey.
x. Irene Prall1–2,11,13 was baptized on 11 Apr 1711 in Staten
Island, Richmond Co., New York.20,26
She died after 11 Apr 1711 at the age of 0 in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New
York.20 [died young] She was born about 1711
in Staten Island, Richmond Co., New York. [based on baptismal date] Irene is a
bit of a mystery. She is presented her as a child of Pieter Prall although her
existence is somewhat questionable without a source for her baptism and a
clearly definded date of death.
The Stillwell Genealogy and the Prall Manuscript [NYHS Collection] make no mention of her. The American Descendants of Chretien DuBois and The Prall Family both give a 1711 birth for Irene. [11 April 1711* is the undocumented date given in The Prall Family.] The authors of both works assume that Irene died young, as she is not named in her father's will. The transcription of Peter's will used in The American Descendants of Chretien DuBois names "Irene" as one of Peter's children. The copy of the will in possession of the author clearly indicates "Isaac" where the DuBois book has "Irene." If the will is Heidgerd's source for Irene's existence, then he was in error.
Maria Prall was, with her husband, acting as godparent at the baptism of Christiana Van Campen, daughter of Johannes, on 17 April 1711, only six days after the reported baptism of Irene. If Irene died during childbirth, her mother recovered from a difficult birth very quickly.
*[A source for the 11 April 1711 baptism is desperately needed.]
