1. John Stephin1 was born (date
unknown). The Stephins were from Long Stratton, two miles from the parish of
Saxlingham-Nethergate, Norfolk. John was a parish clerk in Long Stratton at the
time of his marriage. The parish register read "John Stephins, clerke of
Long Stratton, by license, married Anne Tovy." John's duties as parish
clerk would have included arranging baptisms and communions, ringing the church
bell and leading church services. No burial record for John has been located.
Anne was buried on 6 December 1585.
